Wassa Wassa Workshops and Wassa Wassa Drum Collective will feature in Trenchtown 2010 in Stradbally. Performance Friday night, Drum Workshops over the weekend.

Wassa Wassa Workshops form part of the varied programme of events again this year at the Carrick Water Music Festival, in Carrick on Shannon on the  9th July

Carrick on Shannon will be alive with African Beats as the town celebrates Nigeria Day this Saturday 25th June. Calabash Painting Craft Workshops, Dance and Drum Workshops will be provided by us throughout the day and Wassa Wassa are delighted to be performing as the main event after the parade.

We are running adult workshops over the summer in Dublin for everyone from beginners to advanced players.

Beginners €12 per workshop

Intermediate/advanced €20 per workshop

As the summer is a very active time for everybody I found the course option not suitable for people so only this drop in price will be available.

CONTENT

A fresh piece will be introduced each workshop making it possible for people to drop in an out when available. There will be notation and video projections. Also handouts on material used at the end of each workshop. Each int/adv workshop will consist of at least one full African rhythm including at least 3 dun parts with variations and enchauffments. At least 3 djembe parts and at least one break. All participants will have time to learn, practice and play each part, giving a full understanding of the whole rhythm.

There will be drums there but if you have a drum please bring it. Especially doundounba, sangban or kenkeni.
