Africa Day events are an opportunity to celebrate the heritage and identity of African communities living in Ireland. The aim is also to raise public awareness of Irish Aid, the Irish Government’s overseas development programme, and the countries in which it works. Irish Aid, Ireland’s official aid programme to developing countries is delighted to support events such as this marking Africa Day. The focus of Ireland’s aid programme is the fight against poverty and exclusion in some of the world’s least developed countries, particularly in Africa.
